EVENTS
PUPPET SHOW EVENING & TRAVELLING BOOKSHOP

On Wednesday the 19th September 2007 we will be having our puppet show.  The children come to school dressed in their pyjamas, with blankets and enjoy a fun-filled evening.  Parents can mingle over a drink and pizza; the children will then be given hot chocolate and marshmallows.  A donation of a book for the library would be appreciated and to make it easier for the parents we will be having books to view from the Travelling Bookshop on Tuesday the 12th and Wednesday the 21th September.  You are also welcome to buy books for personal and home use.  As this will be the last PTA event for this term, we do hope to have a good turn out, so please diarise this date as the children really enjoy themselves.  The puppet show starts at 6.00pm and will cost R10 per person.

SCHOOL HOURS

The main gate in 9th street opens at 7h30 and children may be brought from this time until 8h30 where after the gate is locked. Your child should be escorted into the school. Please do not leave your child alone, anticipating the arrival of the teacher.
The school morning finishes between 12h15 and 12h30.
It is important that children are collected promptly as they have had a long and busy day.

Linga Longa
For those parents who work we do run a “Linger Longa” service every day from 12h30-13h30 (not till 14h00 anymore). The children bring a packed lunch to school and are under the supervision of a teacher until they go home.

HEALTH

If your child is sick please do not send him or her to school. A child with a temperature, a persistent cough, an upset stomach or ill during the night, should stay at home. Medicines are not administered at school and children may only return to school 48 hours after the start of an antibiotic. If your child is unable to attend school due to illness or any other reason, please telephone the Secretary. The school should be notified if your child is absent and in the case of infectious disease.

REFRESHMENTS
A mid-morning snack is served daily. The children have a selection of peanut butter, syrup, marmite or jam on a brown bread sandwich. Fruit juice and a fruit is also served..

CLOTHING

Please ensure that all clothing is clearly marked with your child's name. Children must be able to manage their clothing themselves. Best clothes inhibit enjoyment in messy activities. Each child must bring a change of clothes in case of accidents.

Hats! Hats! Hats!
Children must wear a hat in order to play in the garden. Hats may be left in the locker for this purpose.

THINGS NOT TO BRING
Please discourage your child from bringing special toys from home. The child always says "I'll leave it in my locker" but it never stays in the bag and at the end of the day we have a tearful child or a lost or broken toy. We discourage dummies, bottles or special toys etc. from being carried around at school. An exception will be made for a new child settling in, but it is far better for these items to remain at home.

COLLECTION
If you will not be collecting your child please let your child's teacher know. No child will be permitted to leave the school with anyone unless authorised by the parent. Please use the notebooks for this purpose.

NOTICEBOARD

The PTA notice board is situated outside the Red. Please make a point of reading it and keep up to date with school activities. Newsletters and PTA reminders are posted on the board as well as any other relevant information.

Notebooks
A small notebook will be provided covered in the colour of your child's group. This is for messages between home and school. Please send it to school and check it daily.
